Dedication for Jens Osterhoff, recipient of Bjørn H. Wiik Prize 2021

Jens Osterhoff receives the Björn H. Wiik Prize of the Year 2021 in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the field of plasma acceleration, which have attracted worldwide attention. With this novel method, extremely high acceleration fields can be generated and thus elementary particles can be accelerated over short distances to very high energies. Plasma acceleration has a very high potential for DESY's future as an accelerator laboratory.  This applies both to the scientific use of plasma accelerators and to broader applications in society (medicine, industry).
